Principal’s Introduction

August 15, 2017

Hello Horizon families,

It has been a terrific start to the school year! Monday brought us many smiling faces and scholars ready to get back to learning. We are all looking forward to a year of great success. Each year our goal is to improve student success and safety. A new year brings new procedures, and as you know, we have put some in place to encourage a consistent learning environment and ensure the safety of your scholars. I have heard some concerns regarding the dress code. I have learned that you did not receive a copy of the Handbook last year and the dress code, in particular regarding shoes, was not enforced. Because of this, we will allow until September 30 for students to meet the dress code requirement regarding shoes. Please understand the Scholar Handbook and dress code are not new. Second, we have implemented a new Positive Behavior Intervention System called LiveSchool. LiveSchool is a

Third, the new drop off and pick up procedures will take a few days to run smoothly. We do believe this will be safer for your scholars. Please keep in mind that displaying your number makes the line move quickly. If your number is displayed when you enter the parking lot, the staff “texter” will immediately text it to the office to be called. Our goal will be to have your scholar coming up to meet you by the time your move around the parking lot. Also, talk to your scholars about exiting quickly to your car when they hear their number called. Keeping the line moving is important.

Sincerely,
